My Transformation Journey

I have been overweight for over 9 years, the weight began to accumulate since my first pregnancy. I have two boys, ages 7 and 9, and as a mom, a teacher among the many other titles or hats that we wear, I let myself go, because I felt I had no time for myself. I work all day and I come home to make dinner, clean whatever mess there is and then work on lesson plans until it’s time to sleep and do it all over again the next day. I never had any time for myself, which led me to believe I never had time to work out and or even eat healthy. I had tried many diets and always found myself, giving up too soon. I knew that dieting alone was not going to do the magic.

I needed a change. I was sick and depressed, I hated to see my belly hanging and feeling helpless. I was going to physical therapy between two and three times a week because I was suffering from severe back pain. I had so many tests done, x-rays, MRIs, all kinds of blood work and in the end the doctors never found what was wrong. I spent so much money, time and energy going to doctors for nothing. Every doctor I went to told me that I was too stressed out, which was causing my back pain. I thought that I would have to live with that pain for the rest of my life. I was sick of going to doctors and taking medicine! One day I told my doctor that I was going to cure myself.

My focus then became eliminating some of my stress. So I changed jobs in hopes of getting out of the city and being closer to my children. My new job not only gave me a great team but they also started my path into self development by giving me a book called “Mindsets” by Carol Dweck. From the first page, I was hooked! The book talks about how we can do anything we set our minds to. It also talks about how a growth mindset can help you succeed vs a fixed mindset can actually limit you. I fell in love with the simple idea, that by changing my mindset, I could achieve and do all the things I wanted. I worked on self development for a year.

When I was ready to put what I learned into practice, the universe put my coach, Johanna Camacho into my life. We met and I told Johanna that she couldn’t have come at a better time! I knew I was mentally ready to take action. That day, I made the decision to do anything I could to reach my goal. I immediately asked Johanna if I could join her challenge group, then I asked her if she needed an exercise partner. It took one day of me working out with Johanna, at her house, to be convinced how convenient it was to do the exercise from the comfort of your home.

I was sold, and joined Johanna’s journey into Beachbody.

After several months on Beachbody and several different programs, I can say that Beachbody has changed my life. I am no longer depressed and I no longer have severe back pain. I am happy, energetic and full of life. After I started seeing my results, and my social channels reaching out, asking me what was I doing, I decided to become a Beachbody coach myself. I wanted to share my new found motivation and help motivate other busy women out there. I want to help people accomplish what I am accomplishing! I know I have a long way to go to reach my fitness goal, but I feel I have gotten my life back and I want to help others get their life back as well!
